Hi Dawn,
I am so sorry we didn't make it to the butterfly release. We thought about you guys on the 18th but never knew you were doing another dinner until 2 days after. Morgan was upset when she found out we had missed it. We will be there for the kids walk as usual on Saturday. I hate we missed it. I promised Morgan we would not miss it again.
Love, Amy & Morgan

How did you know Emily?: Received the email about Emily 4/18/08 at CFCC
I followed Emily's story from the time I learned of her. I cried and thought of your struggles often. I live in Wilmington and also have a little girl named Emily who is now 5 years old. Every time I pass Hollis lane I think of all of you and wonder how it is that you can be as strong and good a family as you are. I am not a churchgoing person but have learned so much spiritually and faithwise from Emily's fight with cancer. I wish you well and promise to try to participate in the next function in Emily's honor.

Hi Bess,
Thank you so much for your note. Iam so thankful Emily's kind heart, smile and love is still with us all. We had a butterfly memorial dinner at Barlow Vista Baptist Church on Saturday, and a butterfly release, after the dinner in the garden behind the church where the church cemetary is. it was so beautiful. Our next event is the relay for life on May 7th and 8th, We would love for you to be there and get to meet your Emily! Look for the Emily's Encouragers Tent, usually its close to the front when you go through the gate, at Topsail high schools football field. It starts on Fri afternoon and their is a kids walk on Sat. morning 9:00 with games and taking walk around the track. Email me if you need more info. or go to pender county relay for life. Thank you again , for your thoughts about Emily and our family. Dawn

Dear Hollis Family,
I don't suppose I'll ever forget the struggle Emily and her family endured. This website brought great attention to childhood brain cancer. Emily's legacy of bravery at such a young age. I pray the family has begun to smile at the very thought of her. May you have days of comfort and joy thinking of such a precious gift from God and her impact.
With Caring Thoughts,
Faye Herring

Hi, Ms. Faye
Thankyou for the kind thoughts about Emily. I think about her every single day. We miss her so much. It's even hard for me to go to the web site. We do smile thinking about her loving, happy, caring ways. Trey says his prayers every night for all the children at the hospital. We do hope one day Dr. G's team will find a cure. I think about The hospital often and how each person we were in contact with will always have a special place in our hearts.
Thank you so much for your prayers and love for Emily. Love, Dawn

Dear Dawn,
As a Mother that has lost a son to cancer, I know and feel your pain as it is a daily feeling of loneliness. You miss Emily. No words of kindness can take that heart hurt away. Somehow God gives us the strength to take one day at a time. The hurt will become easier as time heals the wound, but the scar will always be there. Emily will be forever your little girl. Dawn, you were a very brave Mother and so faithful in your care of her until her last breath. God honors that and you will one day feel whole again. Enjoy your life and look forward to all the joys Trey will bring as he grows older. My prayers are for happiness once again to the Hollis Family.
Happy Valentine's Day.
Love, Faye

Hello Hollis Family!
Just wanted to let all of you know we were thinking of all of you yesterday as it was Emily's birthday. Jerry and I spent the weekend with Julie and yesterday morning as we ate breakfast I said well today is Emily's birthday and my Grandmother's birthday. I know it brought back so many memories and so much emotion for all of you. Just know that even thought we do not talk every day that you all have not been forgotten ~ we continue to lift each of you up in prayer daily! Continue to hold and cherish those precious memories and know that one day you will all be a family again with no one missing!
We love all of you! Charlotte and Jerry

HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY EMILY. FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

NOT AS A CHILD SHALL WE AGAIN BEHOLD HER:
FOR WHEN WITH RAPTURE WILD
IN OUR EMBRACES WE AGAIN ENFOLD HER,
SHE WILL NOT BE A CHILD.
BUT A FAIR MAIDEN, IN HER FATHER'S MANSION,
CLOTHED WITH CELESTIAL GRACE,
AND BEAUTIFUL WITH ALL THE SOUL'S EXPANSION
SHALL WE BEHOLD HER FACE.

Hi Hollis Family,
Morgan & I would just like to say that Saturday the 18th was such a wonderful thing to do. It was one of the sweetest things I've ever done. I was up at the butterfly garden thursday and when I walked over it was like they were meeting me before I could get there. I live pretty close to the area and yesterday Morgan and myself were outside and in the driveway were 3 fluttering around. Morgan said "look mom Emily's here". It's so great to see our children remembering the fun times they shared with each other. Your all such a blessing and just know Morgan will hold Emily close to her heart forever. She will live in all of our hearts forever.
Love, Morgan & Amy Rutherford
