Emily’s Smiles through Difficult Trials

Updates about the Emily Hollis Medulloblastoma Cancer Journey

Neurologist Appt.

Dawn & Eddie took Emily to the Neurologist in Wilmington at 10 a.m. this morning.  After discussing her headache history, he ordered an immediate cat scan.  By 1:00 the results were in and showed a large brain tumor at the base of Emily’s brain.  The tumor needs to be removed and at 1:30 Dawn, Eddie & Emily are on their way to Duke Medical Center in Durham for surgery a.s.a.p.  Everyone is on pins & needles, Duke is 3 hours away, many phone calls to make, the Hollis Grandparents are out of town and must be called. Emily’s 7-year old brother is at home and they don’t want him to be told yet so that he will not worry, so he gets to go play with cousins that live across the street.  Dawn’s parents are called and someone goes to pack some clothes and things to take to Duke for the family.  Once at Duke, there is much to do, blood work, tests, x-rays, scans, MRI, you name it, before surgery can be done early Saturday morning.   All that can be done is wait and pray.
