Emily’s Smiles through Difficult Trials

Updates about the Emily Hollis Medulloblastoma Cancer Journey

Brief Home Visit

Filed under: — sho at 2:10 pm on Friday, September 15, 2006

WOW!  What a wonderful surprise today!  Emily & Dawn “sneaked” home for a weekend visit!!!   Emily looks really good, walking carefully and sometimes with a little help, enjoying sitting in the floor playing with her baby doll, and being at home again just makes her smile boldly!  Trey was excited too for his Mom to pick him up at school.  What a blessing to have Emily home for the weekend!!  Gotta be careful to not expose her to anyone potentially sick.  Neighborhood children are delighted to have Trey home to play with and are rapidly putting hand and face prints on the glass door waving and talking to Emily through the glass.

Her scar is healing nicely but it is a massive scar for such a tiny little girl.  She still has her hair but it is very thin and falling out by the handful now.

Eye Update

(from Dawn)  Emily had her eye appt. at Duke and she will have eye surgery after chemo is done.  Her oblique muscle has a palsy and her inferior muscle being over active causes her right eye to be raised and shifted counter clock wise, causing her to see objects higher with her right eye and she tilts her head to compensate for it. Surgery will reattach the inferior muscle more posterior to try and correct the problem.

Love, Dawn and Emily
