Emily & family were able to attend today’s Pecan Grove HOA fundraiser/silent auction.  Beautiful sunny fall day and great attendance, excellent BBQ & HOMEMADE desserts!  Emily had lots of her preschool & t-ball friends there and they enjoyed playing on the playground and eating cupcakes!  Paw Paw took the microphone and thanked everyone for coming and we thought he was going to sing!  Emily had a great day and was exhausted with a full tummy when she got home.  She has started her break between radiation & chemo with a busy schedule!

Emily Home / Yard Flocked

Can you picture your yard full of pink flamingos?  Well, Emily had a big pink WELCOME HOME surprise waiting on her – a yard full of plastic pink flamingos, courtesy of Encourager Cindy Justice & her GA group at Hampstead Baptist Church.  Imagine the look on Eddie’s face when he was the first to see them, priceless!  They sure did make Emily giggle and she gets to keep the littlest one, “pinky” as a keepsake.  Emily was thrilled to be home again and in her own room.

Home for the BBQ Benefit

Another good week at Duke and home again for the weekend!  YEAH!  Emily’s Encouragers BBQ today was a HUGE SUCCESS.  1400 dinners in 3 hours!  WOW!  Emily came for a while during the first hour of the benefit.  She enjoyed getting pictures made, coloring and visiting.  Not to fond of wearing a mask but she did so and smiled with her eyes!  Granny Mom  & Nana supervised the coloring book activity and really enjoyed visiting with all the supporters that came out.  Paw Paw caught up with recent activities of fellow church members and Grandaddy ran out to get more BBQ when we ran out!  What a tiring day for all volunteers and what a joy to sit down afterward and talk with Dawn & Eddie.  It was the first time they’ve been alone with all the Emily’s Encouragers committee since Emily got sick.  We laughed, we cried, we rejoiced in Emily’s life.  An exhilarating day for all involved.  Now we count down the final days of radiation and look forward to Emily’s homecoming for a few weeks before chemotherapy begins.
