Hey  Stephanie.

Emily has had another good day,  We worked on some crafts,  coloring,  and sight word flash cards.  Its 11:30 and she is craving choc. icecream.  Today she started the morning off with 2 pieces of bacon,   Some steak and gravy for lunch ,  a few chips and half of a choc. doughnut  for a snack  and one oreo  and milk before bedtime.  Still having antibiotics day and night,  and drawing blood for labs.  No Hives today.  We will be a week late starting chemo.  Dr. G  wants to start  chemo  next Wed. if possible.  We have to wait till a certain number of tests come back negative, and waiting to see what will be decided about the perm. shunt.  We thank you for the messages you send,  We are so tired, all we can do today is just read them

Trey visited / Steak & Gravy Craving

Emily had a good night and a good day.  She had a good nap this morning and after she woke up, 15 min later Trey came into the room with  pink roses for Emily in a vase and a vase of  red roses  for mommy.  She was so happy!  We didn’t tell her Trey and Granddaddy & Nana were going to be here.  Her reaction was priceless when Trey came through the door!  Its 11:40 pm  and Emily is listening to her Songs of Love CD  and coloring.  She said this song “makes me color fast”.  She had a nap for 2 hours today and Eddie and I took Trey out to eat, and to Dicks Sporting Goods.   The time went by way to fast.  It was really hard on Trey leaving us.  He couldn’t even come back in to kiss Emily.  She has not been sick all day and her energy level has increased.  She has started back on the medication,  that makes her appetite increase,  and is craving steak and gravy.  I did plan ahead a little and have small containers in the freezer with steak and gravy.  She  is doing good with her temporary  EVD.   We will hear more news tomorrow,  when her Drs. are back.  Surgeons keep raising the pressure on the EVD,  and Emily is taking it well,  with no pain at this point.  Only the morning Eddie and I picked her up to clean her, we drained  her  spinal  fluid,  gave her a severe migraine.  We didn’t know the valve had to be closed before we move her.  She doesn’t forget to tell us before we move her now!   We think it will be a week before  the infection will be safe.  Her blood is always being tested  and she has had a couple of bags of platelets.  Emily finally had a day without the Hives.  Its 12:00 am, time for that antibiotic again.  Lets hope she will be Hive Free.  Emily is now falling asleep dreaming of steak and gravy.  She has asked Eddie over and over again,  “tomorrow morning you have to go get me some”.  Her healing has been so fast,  and spirits have been positive,  THANK YOU to everyone for helping in healing our little girl.  If you could be here and see what she goes through everyday,  you would know, as we do, your prayers are being heard, and God is in control.  There are reasons for so many ups and downs,  it shows just how powerful and loving He is.  We can sleep at night  knowing  we have so many friends and family, and our Lord by our side.

With Love ,         Eddie, Dawn, Trey, and Emily

Emily back in room

Emily was back in her room resting comfortably after a couple of hours.  Drs are pleased with the new drain & it seems to working well.  The one they removed did have a clot in it preventing it from functioning properly.  Thanks to all for your prayers!  Once again, God answered!
