We have been busy!  Last update was 24th  Saturday,    Emily had clinic appointments Monday, we started early,  had labs  and waited on the results. She had a Dr. appt. with Dr G.  Had a school  lesson with Mrs. Trish.  Left Hospital,  20 minutes later, called to go back,  thought she needed more platelets,  Lab sheet had wrong count number,   Dr. G said  she was borderline, and her counts should start to increase, and he wanted to wait  and check on Tuesday.  Emily went back on Tues. had labs and her counts were stable.  Did not get any blood products,   Tuesday,  Emily worked with her teacher,  and  then back to the apt. to rest,  we sat outside for a little while and enjoyed the weather.  Spoke to Mr. Tom who lives in the next building.  He always wears his Emily’s Encourager hat.  He always wants to know about her.  We have alot of  Great grandpa’s  and Great Grandma’s  here at the Apts.  praying for Emily.  Emily has been practicing walking.   Ms. Lisa her Physical therapist was here for a therapy visit on Tues. afternoon.  Barbara, another physical therapist, will be here thursday morning,  for more treatment.  We have a hospital visit on Thurs.  to check labs,  have transfusions, if needed, and see Dr. Grieiner, (Fellow) another one of Emily’s Cancer Drs.  for appt.  Not to confuse Dr. “G” is Dr. Gururangan,  He calls the shots.  Mrs. Trish will see her after clinic.  Emily has done well today,  She practiced walking,  all day,  and  this afternoon, she walked 10 steps without holding on,  still unstable,  but making progress.  I carried her to the swing set, she tried a little.   Rode a little ways on her big wheel today!  Then wanted to come back in ,  her energy level is still very low, but she is trying hard.   Friday night  Eddie and Trey will be here!!!  Emily’s counts will be checked tomorrow,  They should have increased this week.   We have not seen Trey in a month,  Emily and I  can’t wait!!!  We Pray  No  Fevers, No Infections.  Friday,   Emily will stop having the extra meds and antibiotics  that she came home with from the hospital,  that will help us get more sleep through the night.  Thank You for the many prayers and messages,  Emily likes to check them regularly.  We will try to respond  when we can,  just wanted everyone to know we rarely have a chance to respond,  but that doesn’t mean we don’t read them and are very thankful to hear from each and everyone.  God is answering all our prayers,  Emily is up and walking.  Last week she could not even stand on a soft bed, and today she is walking down the hall to me.  The power of prayer and Gods healing hand!  What more can you say when you see this with your own eyes.
Love,  Emily and Dawn

Good Saturday/More Valentines

Filed under: — sho at 11:59 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2007

I am finally back on. Its kinda a blurr, but yesterday after being back in the apt.  Emily fell asleep while the nurse was still here.  She was very tired,  Up most of the night, making sure I was changing and adding meds right.  So this morning we kept sleeping and sleeping until it was past lunchtime.  Emily woke up and I was looking right into those big eyes.  She was feeling better after some much needed sleep.  Eddie had her ALOT of cards for her to look at today.  He brought them from home.  She was so excited to have something here, when we came back to the apt.  Topsail Middle school and Mrs. Cindy had a box full of Valentine cards for Emily.  150 students  sent her the most beautiful and loving cards.  Eddie and I enjoyed reading them too her.  She said “ a hundred and fifty cards, she just had the biggest smile on her face, with all those cards she had scattered about .  Thank You to all the kids for making her day so much brighter!  Emily thinks valentines are a type of card that you make all the time.  Not just one day of the year.  Today she wore her support boots for a long time, and practiced walking with daddy.  Watched a scooby movie, and it was not long before she was asleep.  She has been up a few times, but she is in the best mood,  and has been in good spirits all day.  Thank You to everyone for your daily prayers. God has given us another great day.

Love, Eddie, Dawn, Trey, and Emily

Surprise!!! Back @ Apt!!!!!!!!!!

Filed under: — sho at 1:07 am on Saturday, February 24, 2007
What a surprise for us today (Friday)!  Emily’s blood pressure became stable over night, no fever, no vomiting, meds are working good.  No headaches for the last 2 days.  Dr. G. came by mid-morning and said ”Emily do you want to go home (apt.)”   ”yes, yes, but I have to finish my picture first”.  Then Mrs. Trish came in, time for school.  Eddie and I packed and took a trip to the van, while Emily did  reading.  Dr. Plage stopped by to visit,  and now Emily can’t stop talking about the surprise closet.  She wants to visit and go through all the treats.  I told her that Sandy has 15 different rolls of stickers!!    The CT room and MRI rooms don’t even come close to the amount of stickers Sandy has.  You can imagine she has aquired quite a collection.  The nurses are so good to her in the ‘donut machine’, as Emily calls it. She thinks its cool to ride down the halls with her bed on wheels.  OH yes, Mommy even has to ride on certain clingy days, we hide under the covers.  We were back to the Apt.  around 3:00pm.  A home health nurse came by around 6:00pm,  because if we wanted out, mommy had to learn about even more meds, pre-meds, and antibiotics to administer on more connections, along with the others, we were already giving.  I am learning at 12:30 am with a list to go, if this was a thought out plan.  Dr. G. feels  Emily needs a different environment, if possible.  I will do what it takes to be able to go back to the apt.  She needs some catch up before we are back for tests that are done for pre admission for cycle 4.  Emily will be receiving physical therapy 3x a week at the apt. unless we are at the hospital. Speech therapy will be done, don’t know schedule at this time,  and working on a way to receive occupational therapy, at the apt.  Lisa, her physical therapist at the hospital will be able to do 2 of the treatments each week, and a friend she knows well, will be seeing her the other day.  Lisa works at the hospital and also works part-time with homebound patients, so Emily is excited about Ms. Lisa visiting her at the apt.  We will be back Monday to the hospital for blood work and Drs. evaluation, probably blood products too.  Mrs. Trish usually teaches during the waiting time .  Emily has been sleeping most of the afternoon, and still is weak.  We pray this week Emily will be infection free. We thank everyone for the daily prayers for EmilyWhat a blessing we received with the news this morning.  Emily is sleeping in her big cozy bed tonight.
 Love,  Eddie, Dawn, Trey, Emily
