A much anticipated update from Dawn!  Everyone has been eager to hear.  Remember ya’ll, NO NEWS is GOOD NEWS!  I update as soon as I get a message.  Here ya go!     Stephanie
Hope everyone had a great Valentines Day!  We are back in the apt. No more hospital food and vending machine meals for the last 3 days.  Aunt Cheryl sent some yummy Chicken Casserole and Homemade German Choc. Cake,  Eddie and I ate every last bit by Sunday night. We would pack us some each day to take to the hospital.  Eddie and I brought Emily home yesterday around lunch time.  She was very tired and went to sleep around 5:00pm and only woke up a couple of  times .  She needed that all night sleep.  It was so nice and peaceful.  Today has been another good day for her.  She still remains tired, but she is in good spirits.  She has been on the sofa today watching for the mailman and watching a couple of movies Suzette sent to her.  Amy U. sent her a  big package from Dixon Elementary, all cards and Valentines for Emily.  You should have seen her face when she saw all that mail!!!  Granny Mom is here, and Emily has ate of all things & pork skins that she requested , “Granny bring some of those crunchy chips”  and a half of a powdered donut, and 2 spoonfuls of field peas.  First food in about 4 weeks!  Tomorrow we go to the Childrens Clinic “Day Hospital” at Duke, for blood work, and Dr. G said on Tues.  that Emily will probably need a blood transfusion and platelets.  We also see Dr. G for evaluation at 1:00.  We will spend most of the day there tomorrow.  Thank You to everyone for the messages and emails, and cards you send. There were a couple of 20×20 cards,  she said “ that’s the biggest envelope I have ever seen.”   Emily looks forward to her messages you send!  Wendy A. sent her pics of childrens church, the kids were doing crafts, and Emily enjoyed seeing everyone and some new friends too!!!  Looks like the class is getting very full!!   If Wendy needs help I will be glad to help when we get home.  Can’t wait!
Love,  Emily and Dawn

Stem Cells / Apt. in sight!!!!!

This morning Emily’s lines were both clotted,  At 3:00 am  they started trying to unclot the lines, but no luck.  She had to be taken down to radiology with dye through her lines  to determine if the lines to the vessels were open, to receive the stem cells.  Everything is ok and the stem cell transplant will begin around 12:30.  She is feeling better today, and her teacher Mrs. Trish, is here reading stories and doing special valentine project.  No fever so far today.  We will be able to go to the Apt. tomorrow.

Rough Weekend

Filed under: — sho at 2:39 am on Monday, February 12, 2007
Emily has been resting more today.  This morning was a little hard on her, but this afternoon her vomiting has been decreasing.  They have been giving two different meds for vomiting, and this afternoon she has been able to get some sleep.  I don’t know if Eddie and I could have taken one more day or night like the others.  I will spare the details,  but he has gone to the Apt. tonight for some rest, and I am getting ready to relax a little.  I could tell we received special prayers today.  Emily is weak and very tired but before she went to sleep, she was was in a good mood, and smiling.  Stem Cell Transplant  tomorrow.
I will talk with you later,  Love Dawn
