Home for a while!!
Emily visited her Doctors on Monday at Duke. They found her counts to still be too low to begin another round of chemo. For the time being, they gave her some others meds and said she could have her bloodwork drawn in Wilmington so she wouldn’t have to travel back & forth to Duke.
As it stands right now, she will not have to return to Duke for appx. 8 weeks and at that time they will do another MRI and discuss the next protocol. For now Emily is thrilled to know she’s “homie home” for such a long time!
This is good news to Mom & Dad too as they can release the extra expense of maintaining the apartment in Durham.
This coming weekend Emily has big plans to attend the 6th Annual Albacore Fishing Tournament in Morehead City. This tournament is held each year to raise money for the Duke Children’s Hospital and Brain Tumor Foundation. They issued an invitation for Emily to come and everyone knows how much this little lady enjoys fishing!!!!
This is a catch & release only event that is held at Radio Island Marina in Beaufort, NC. Emily is excited that there is also a junior and kids division in this tournament.
Thank you to everyone for your continued prayers and well wishes for Emily. She continues to amaze us all with her steadfast determination that all is well! Christopher Reeve said it best years ago when he said “Once you choose HOPE, anything is possible”. That quote certainly describes our Emily! HOPE for tomorrow, HOPE for a CURE.
Love,
Stephanie
