Emily’s Smiles through Difficult Trials

Updates about the Emily Hollis Medulloblastoma Cancer Journey

No Port Replacement

Filed under: — sho at 11:58 pm on Tuesday, October 2, 2007

Well, Emily had a very long day today. Started at the hospital about 8 a.m. for platelets before having her surgery to remove and replace the port. They successfully removed the port but were unable to replace it due to too much scar tissue preventing access. After calling in the head vascular surgeon and consulting with Dr. Griner, they determined to not replace it at this time. Next they had to do x-rays and scans to make sure nothing had been punctured during the procedure. Emily was scheduled for a late afternoon radiation treatment after this long ordeal. I have not spoken to Dawn since about 4:00 so I’m not sure if Emily felt like doing radiation or not. Hopefully they were able to go home and have a good nights sleep! It was an exhausting day! :???:

Love,
Stephanie
