Good Day
Emily had a pretty good day today.
She got up late and settled on the couch for the rest of the day. Dawn said Emily rested well last night, was only sick once, and every hour reached out and rubbed Dawn’s face to make sure she was still there. They’d talk a few minutes and drift off to sleep until another hour passed. Eddie was able to go to work and Granny Mom came in this afternoon with a load of groceries.
Emily was excited to find out that Shelby & Aunt Crystal were coming to see her!
She and Shelby scrunched together on the couch, coloring, giggling, watching Scooby Doo and eating strawberries. When Eddie got home Emily boldly told him she wanted pizza for supper!
A friend was bringing spaghetti to them for supper so I’m not sure if she ever got that pizza or not! All in all, she had a good afternoon and that’s all that matters!
Thus far there have not been any bad side effects from the treatment yesterday. Just the usual tiredness and nausea and she hurts when she tries to stand from the pressure, so she is most comfortable sitting or lying down. She feels good for about an hour then not so good for a while, then good again, and so on. Monday morning they will go to Wilmington to have her labs done and if the platelets have dropped dramatically, they will go straight to Duke for more. Other than that, they will be home since Emily doesn’t feel like going out.
Many of you have asked if there is something you can do for them. First, you can pray without ceasing, for Emily’s comfort and for Dawn & Eddie to stand strong during this difficult time. Second, you can send cards of encouragement to their home and messages on the web guestbook. Third, if anyone would like to prepare a meal for them, please contact me and we can coordinate it. Other than that, their needs are met at this time. As always, THANK YOU for your prayers and encouragement.
Love,
Stephanie
