Emily Holding On

Filed under: — sho at 8:33 pm on Monday, April 14, 2008

Emily is doing about the same, she is not quiet alert on some days, and she doesn’t respond to questions by nodding like she did a few weeks ago. She can partially open her left eye but her right one she doesn’t open at all. I am still giving morphine, and steroids through her pic line around every three hours for morphine. We are not giving any fluids at this time due to her breathing. It seems to cause her to struggle more, trying to clear the fluids and her breathing decreases. We continue to watch her and be by her side. It has been several weeks since we have taken some time to be outside. Last week we had the grandmothers here and they watched Emily while Eddie and I did some yard work. It seemed nice to enjoy the beautiful weather. Emily has some days her breathing is not too strong, but she continues to hold on and she still looks at Eddie and I when we talk to her. We continue to pray with her and tell her God is watching over her, and everything is going to be ok, and we cannnot wait till she is able to run and play. We cannot express enough, how thankful we are to have so many people by our side continuing to pray for our little girl and our family. The many prayers, messages, cards, and meals help us get through the days. We tell Emily about all the “computer mail” she has, and how many are praying with us.

Emily resting

Filed under: — sho at 4:31 pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2008

A quick note about Emily Monday & Tuesday. She is still resting good and I continue to give her morphine and steroids through her pic line. She has woke up both mornings, opening the left eye and pointing to her mouth. She wants her teeth cleaned with the sponge on a stick dipped in Act fluoride rinse! I also try to keep her mouth moist with water on the mouth sponge. For now it is hard for her to swallow, so she is having a small amount of fluids through her line during the day.

We’re keeping the Faith.
Love, Dawn

Emily’s amazing strength

Filed under: — sho at 3:56 pm on Monday, April 7, 2008

Thank you for all the Prayers and Hope. Thursday afternoon through Friday were some of the hardest times, watching and hanging on and praying for Emily. The hardest times we, as parents, to go through. Eddie and I have been through and witnessed sights that only Gods mercy, strength, and love could do. It had been a long time since we saw her try to open her eyes, but Saturday she opened the left eye often and tried to say a couple of words. Her mind is still sharp as a tack. She has the Christmas picture of G-Man the horse at Camp Debbie Lou, beside her on the sofa. Eddie and I were trying to recall the other horse name, that the kids would ride, and she spoke up and said Peanut. Eddie and I were amazed that she remembered, and said it to us. She is very well aware of her condition, and even though she would only nod her head, she knew during those difficult times what was happening and what Eddie and I were saying to her, explaining, and comforting her. One time she even lifted her had to her mouth, kissed it and placed it on my lips. This is just a little part of a bigger picture that we experienced. God continues to give us this amazing strength and hope. She has been sleeping all day, and I continue to give her some meds throughout the day so that she remains comfortable. Thank you to everyone for the messages and prayers. There have been many meals prepared for us and we appreciate all your thoughtfulness.

Love, Dawn, Eddie, Trey and Emily
