What Cancer Cannot Do…

Tonight I struggle with comforting and encouraging words for all of you waiting for news on Emily. While we all are waiting and watching for a sign of renewed HOPE, our hearts REJOICE in what a BLESSING Emily is to our family and to all who know her. I sat with Eddie and Dawn this morning and continue to be in awe of their courage and faith in God’s will for Emily. God sure knew what He was doing when He entrusted Emily into their loving care and parenthood!

Emily continues to rest peacefully reclined on the sofa where they can keep her body elevated. She is sleeping like a baby with the most angelic sweet face, resting in the comforting presence of her family. The nurse came today and hooked her up to a morphine pump and they are giving her some fluids. Dawn and Eddie remain by her side and Grandparents and other family members come and go during the day for brief visits. Because Emily is positioned in the family room, they must keep things relatively quiet so Emily is not disturbed. Trey is being entertained each afternoon with his neighborhood buddies playing basketball and seeking out new places for their “forts”. What a great place to call “home” where everyone helps in so many ways.

Emily’s keen sense of smell also prevents them from cooking in the kitchen; thus, meals are still being brought in for them. We appreciate everyone that has been helping with this recently. Thank you for all the wonderful meals and snacks. Mom (Cheryl 270-9852) & me (Stephie 470-3603) continue to try and schedule meals so they don’t overlap one another and we can let them know who to expect each day. You may call us at anytime to see how you can help.

Your prayers are coveted even more now to help them get through each day. Please continue uplifting Emily and for God’s mercy upon her. Pray for courage and strength for Eddie and Dawn as they go down this path of turmoil and fear. Pray for Trey that he is able to understand and process what is happening to his little sister. Pray especially for the Grandparents as they stand strong for their grown children during this difficult time.

Love,
Stephanie

“What Cancer Cannot Do”
Cancer is so limited…
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit.
